How These Fitness Moms Leave a Positive Impact on Children

Teaching Children the Value of Keeping Fit

Fit Mom Diet bloggers Kim Miller and Shannon Dougherty, and soccer legend Mia Hamm in partnership with Microsoft Lumia, helps out over 200 children from the Los Angeles Unified School District.

They teach the children about living a healthy lifestyle and why it matters and setting goals that are attainable. For taking part of the event, the kids received a phone and a Fitbit so they can track their progress. This is about teaching children how they can set fitness goals and really make them happen. At one point, Kim Miller overheard children saying that they couldn?t do it, so she and Shannon made sure the kids look at fitness on a positive note and that ?they? can do it.

This program teaches the children about commitment as they make pledges on how to live a healthy lifestyle. One girl promised to spend five minutes on cardio because she wanted to be in track and field. Another pledges not to a eat a bag of chips for the rest of the year and another promises to work harder and eat healthier.
